Concerning the article on the proposed 7-Eleven plan for Route 24 and Angola Road:
Can’t imagine where 12 residents would send letters of approval as indicated? The council needs to investigate these letters for authenticity.
The simple fact only private homes and zero commercial development presently exist here within miles shows a highly flammable, environmental soil, noise and air-polluting unnecessary establishment of this sort is certainly out of place here and dangerous! This is why zoning clauses are purposeful.
The narrow in and out for commercial vehicles, particularly gas tankers on Angola Beach Road, an intersection already backed up for miles during peak times as well as all summer weekends, shows it’s certainly out of place!
It’s well known a conditional use is a zoning change ploy, The council needs to visit this location and see for themselves.
A non-arterial, one-lane highway, coupled with a shoulderless narrow country road is not a place for this.
Angola Road, before the thousands of homes are to be built, is already backed up, taking up to five signal changes to proceed, only to sit on already backed up Route 24?
The 1988 Infrastructure MOU conveniently disregarded by all preceding council members recognized the area’s growth, suspiciously neglected to mandate its conditions. Now is the time to demand its implementation! The typical fix of an added or extended turn lane does absolutely nothing to relieve congestion.
The council needs to stand up to the biased developer attornies here fudging the facts for their special-interest, profiteering clients unconcerned with the impact on the thousands of residents.
Just one serious accident here is one too many. No one’s safety should be placed in such jeopardy. This is a 100 percent residential area and needs to stay as such!
