As food insecurity remains a pressing challenge across the United States, AAA has launched a nationwide giving and volunteer campaign in partnership with Feeding America to help meet the growing need. The grassroots effort aims to provide at least 4.5 million meals to individuals and families facing hunger through local partner food banks nationwide.
“This effort is about more than a meal. It is about bringing comfort, dignity and hope to people facing difficult circumstances,” said Tom Wiedemann, AAA Club Alliance CEO. “Now in its second year, this effort reflects the power of our associates and members coming together to support our neighbors and help build a future where no one has to wonder where their next meal will come from.”
With AAA’s expansive reach, including thousands of dedicated associates and nearly 58 million members in the United States, the organization aims to raise awareness, generate donations, mobilize volunteer time and engage local communities in building a hunger‑free America.
In Delaware, AAA associates will be volunteering at the Food Bank of Delaware in Newark.
“We can end hunger when we work together,” said Elizabeth Pettengill, interim vice president, corporate and foundation partnerships at Feeding America. “Through the Fuel Hope, Fight Hunger campaign, together we will help provide meals to help ensure more neighbors have access to the food and resources they need to thrive.”
In every community across the country, families are navigating rising costs and limited access to food. According to Feeding America, nearly 47 million people, including 13.8 million children, experienced food insecurity in the United States. In Delaware, more than 134,000 people are facing hunger, and nearly 38,000 of them are children. The summer months can be especially difficult for children who rely on school meals, making community-based efforts during this time especially critical.
Feeding America is committed to an America where no one is hungry. It supports tens of millions of people who experience food insecurity to get the food and resources they say they need to thrive as part of a nationwide network of food banks, statewide food bank associations, food pantries and meal programs. It also invests in innovative solutions to increase equitable access to nutritious food, advocates for legislation that improves food security and works to address factors that impact food security, such as health, cost of living and employment. It partners with people experiencing food insecurity, policymakers, organizations and supporters, united with them in a movement to end hunger. Visit FeedingAmerica.org to learn more.
