AAUW awards three scholarships

The Coastal-Georgetown Branch of the American Association of University Women awarded three $2,000 academic scholarships to graduating senior females from Sussex County high schools. The branch also provides mentors for these three students during their first year in college.

Two winners from Indian River High School are Joud Dabaj and Samantha Whelen. Both will be attending the University of Delaware, and they will be co-mentored by Charma Konner and Cristi Gillean. The third winner is Colleen Donohoe from Cape Henlopen High School, who will be attending Mount Aloysius College and will be co-mentored by Chris Perry-Jacobs and Charma Konner.

The Coastal-Georgetown Branch of the American Association of University Women has been a part of the local community since 1958. Its members are part of a state and national membership organization of more than 100,000 members whose mission is to promote equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy, and research.
