For the past 20 years, 1632 Savannah Road in Lewes has been home to an orthodontics office, but that has recently changed.

Last month, Ahl and O’Connor Orthodontics moved into their brand-new, larger location, 17425 Ocean One Plaza, Suite No. 3, Lewes. Conveniently for patients, it is right down the road from the previous location.

“This new office was the perfect fit for our practice, because of the ideal location for current patients, increased space for our new equipment and technology, and the open floor plan with a great view!” said Dr. Jamie Ahl, the Lewes-based orthodontist.

In the early 2000s, Dr. Michael Poleck opened his doors to improve smiles in the Lewes community. Upon his retirement in March 2015, he selected Dr. Jamie Ahl and Dr. Charis O’Connor to take over his practice and care for his loyal patients. The orthodontic partners have been creating beautiful smiles in Lewes ever since.

“Dr. Poleck has a warm and friendly personality and was a terrific orthodontist; the transition of care from his practice to our care was seamless,” said O’Connor.

Today, Ahl and O’Connor Orthodontics has three convenient office locations in Lewes, Milford and Dover. The Milford office is the same space where Dr. Robert Kidd III opened his orthodontics practice in 1972. Many parents who were patients back then are now bringing their children in for treatment to the same office.

With the average staff having more than 10 years of experience in the orthodontic field, clients are bound to see a familiar face among the team members who will surely brighten anyone’s day.

“We are very fortunate to have started this project at the beginning of this year because now more than ever, we are excited to have twice the amount of space in our new location of our previous Lewes location allowing patients and parents more comfort,” said Dr. Sita Patel, the third orthodontist with the practice.

Although the location is new, the team members remain the same. All staff and doctors alternate working in all three office locations. They will be offering the same treatment options as before, including metal braces, clear ceramic braces and aligner treatment, such as Invisalign. Keeping up with the latest technology has always been and will continue to be an important part of Ahl and O’Connor Orthodontics.

To provide ultimate treatment efficiency, 3D imaging is available to aid in planning for the best possible tooth realignment. They also have iTero digital scanners so they are able to show patients a complimentary before-and-after treatment simulation. The scanners are also utilized instead of impression material, making it so traditional, messy putty molds are a thing of the past.

The new office location will continue its rewards program and contests, including the #AOOrtho car magnet contest. “Patient’s love to earn their reward points for good brushing and wearing their AO Tshirt,” said Ahl.

Patient appreciation day includes fun games, ice cream, tie-dye stations, bounce houses and more.

The Ahl and O’Connor Orthodontics team members believe in giving back to the community. They have been able to raise money for breast cancer awareness, provide food and clothing for those in need, support the local police and firefighters, sponsor Buckets of Love, participate in Give Kids a Smile, sponsor local sports teams as well as volunteer at the local food banks. “Giving back to the community that we are a part of is an integral part of our company’s mission,” said O’Connor.

Ahl and O’Connor Orthodontics caters to the individual needs of children, teens and adults throughout Kent and Sussex counties. “The biggest joy comes from seeing patients’ confidence increase from their first new patient exam throughout treatment to their perfect smile!” said Ahl.
