Alice Nauman, beloved mother
Alice Mattie Nauman, 93, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 15, 2020, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 5, 1927, in Beaverdale, Pa., to the late Michael and Anna Mattie.
Alice, affectionately known as Gaggy, Grandmother, and Aunt Alice, was a science and math teacher in the Seaford School District. She taught many lessons to those who knew her both inside and outside the classroom. Her kind heart and selfless nature were evident to everyone. She loved spending time with her family and friends playing pinochle or Mexican Train, reading, and watching the Phillies. She was very active in her church.
Most important to Mrs. Nauman were her faith and her family. Mrs. Nauman was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmer C. Nauman Jr., and nine brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters: Sharon Street (Fred) and Patricia Shaw (Dave), and her sons: Wilmer (Carolyn), Keith (Ivy), Mark (Joyce), John (Jenny), and David (Robin). She is also survived by her grandchildren: Scott and Brien (Brandy) Street, Claire Nauman, Jason (Becky) and Abby Nauman, Mark (Brandy), Colin (Maire), and Will Nauman, Kevin and Allison Shaw, Michael and Margo Nauman, and Elle and Anna Nauman. She is also survived by her 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Martha Benson (Paul); and numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Services were private, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated Thursday, Oct. 22, at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewes, followed by interment at Henlopen Memorial Park in Milton.
