AmVets Post 2 donates $16K to Warrior Weekend Program
The Warrior Weekend Program received a donation of $16,350 from the David C. Dolby Amvets Post 2, Long Neck.
The funds were proceeds of Hot Shots games held at the post every Tuesday and Thursday.
The average cost of a four-day trip for military personnel receiving treatment at Fort Belvoir, Va., and their families is approximately $5,000. The Amvets Post 2 donation will fund three of the seven trips scheduled for 2023.
A nonprofit organization, the Warrior Weekend Program relies on donations from organizations like Amvets to continue providing opportunities for rest and relaxation to active-duty service members. All trips are fully funded by Warrior Weekend. In 2022, 118 wounded heroes and their families were Warrior Weekend Program guests on trips to Philadelphia; Chincoteague, Va.; Hershey Park, Pa.; and Rehoboth Beach.
