Anna Mae Givens, loved being outdoors

Anna Mae Givens, 80, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Friday, July 13, 2018, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Vero Beach, Fla.

Anna was born Dec. 8, 1937, in Lewes to the late Jacob M. Moore and Ida M. Hudson of Rehoboth.

She had many titles over her years, from working at her father’s restaurant the Robert Lee in Rehoboth and waitressing at Tower Shores in Bethany Beach, to working for NCR in Millsboro and then as a poultry farmer for Cargill in Ocean View. She later became a CNA at the Millsboro Nursing Home, then co-owner of the Crystal Package Store in Redden, and her last job was as an associate at Walmart in Milford. But mostly she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.

She loved to be outdoors enjoying time fishing, crabbing, clamming and gardening. Anna was also a faithful member of the Church of God in Dagsboro for over 40 years where she praised and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her three husbands, Frank Rickards, Ward Rickards Jr. and Donald Givens; her daughter Lynn Milner; and two half-sisters, Shelly Moore and Babby Moore.

She is survived by her brother, Walter Moore of Ocean View; sister, Bebe Moore of Lewes; son, James Rickards of Frankford; stepson, Ward Rickards III and wife Pam of Laurel; daughter, Mary Jo Awtrey and husband Chris of Vero Beach; grandchildren, Heather Parsons, Alexandra Mazer, Jamie Rickards, Jacob Rickards, Jessica Murdick, Cody Gallien and Patrick Spence; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Briar, Lilly and Rose; and two nephews, Chip Moore and Tom Moore.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 4, at Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford.
