Annual Souper Bowl set Feb. 9 at Nicola Pizza

Proceeds benefit Salvation Army Creative heARTS program
February 5, 2019

The Salvation Army of Delaware will be having its Fifth Annual Souper Bowl Saturday, Feb. 9, at Nicola Pizza on Rehoboth Avenue.  The event began with the hope of raising money to help fill the food pantry for The Salvation Army of Sussex County.  The event will run from noon until 3 p.m.

The Salvation Army Creative heARTS artists have donated their time painting mugs for the event.  For $15, patrons will receive a hand-painted mug as well as the soup from local restaurants.  Designs are limited and varied. A few of the artists have sold out of their designs in past years.

Past soup donations have come from Nicola, Texas Roadhouse, Georgia House and several others.  The Salvation Army will have its own Cream of Mushroom Soup for patron enjoyment. Upon entry to the event, patrons will receive a ticket to vote for their favorite soup of the day.

The Salvation Army Creative heARTs Program is dedicated to helping artists with developmental and cognitive disabilities expand their knowledge of the arts and techniques, and help them have an outlet to show their artwork.  The artists have painted over 700 mugs and bowls for this event over the last five years.  Several artists are planning on attending the event and will also have artwork and cards made from their artwork for sale.
