Antonio J. Costanzo, aircraft mechanic

December 3, 2021

Antonio J. Costanzo, 86, of Milton, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2021, surrounded by all his loved ones. He was born June 6, 1935, in Scranton, Pa., son of the late Vincent and Josephine Costanzo.

At the age of 18, Antonio enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as an Airman 1st Class, thus beginning his love of airplanes. Following his service to country, he began a lifelong career as an aircraft mechanic, lending his expertise to such airlines as National, Eastern, and American. Retiring after more than 30 dedicated years, Antonio enjoyed a busy and happy life, spending his time with family, going to casinos, traveling and most of all, dining out. He also had an appreciation and affinity for fine wine. Antonio found much joy in building model airplanes and trains, so much so, that he created an entire miniature village for them. He was a faithful member of St. Jude the Apostle Church and a Second Degree Knight of Columbus. Above all, Antonio cherished time spent with those he held most dear. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Antonio was loved by many and will be deeply and genuinely missed by all who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Antonio was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Lila. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Theresa M. Costanzo; his children: Nancy Jo Costanzo, Vincent Costanzo (Hugh), Anthony Costanzo (Nora), and Theresa Rivette (Jon); his grandchildren: Michael, Nicholas, Erica, Anthony, Angelica and Thomas; and his great-grandchildren: Gabrielle and Veronica.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Dec. 7, at St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Arrangements entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes. Interment will follow the Mass at 1 p.m., at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Antonio’s memory to the American Parkinson Disease Association, PO Box 61420, Staten Island, NY 10306, to help further support, educate, and provide resources for Parkinson’s Disease and those affected.
