The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park wish to issue a public apology for a critical communication failure regarding the postponement of the 2026 Youth Fishing Tournament. While we notified our members of the postponement several months ago (due to the lack of an event coordinator), we neglected to make a public announcement, leaving many families uninformed.
We wish to issue a special apology to those families who arrived at the park Saturday morning expecting to participate in the tournament. We deeply regret the frustration, wasted time and inconvenience this caused.
Two volunteers have stepped forward to assume responsibility for this popular event and we look forward to finalizing a date for next year’s tournament.
We greatly appreciate the Cape community’s support for FOCHSP’s youth programs, and we are determined to improve our public communications going forward.
