Archives to host du Pont family introduction Jan. 5

December 29, 2018

The du Pont family has been closely tied to Delaware history from 1802 to the present. Lucas R. Clawson will discuss the du Pont family and its place in Delaware history at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, including how the family came to Delaware and ended up running one of the nation’s most prominent chemical companies.

Clawson is an historian and reference archivist with Hagley Museum and Library in Wilmington. He helps provide access to the DuPont Company’s historical records while also researching and writing about the company’s history, particularly during the Civil War era.

The program is free to the public and will last approximately one hour. It will be held at Delaware Public Archives, 121 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. N, Dover, across from Legislative Hall. No reservations are required. For more information, email thomas.summers@state.de.us.
