Artists prepare for Southeastern Delaware Art Studio Tour Nov. 23-24

October 13, 2018

Participants in the Southeastern Delaware Artists Studio Tour (aka SEDAST) are getting ready for the 24th Annual Tour when they will open their studios and give guests the opportunity to talk to them and watch them create their art. The two-day tour will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23 and 24. It is a great opportunity to buy local art and find one-of a-kind gifts, and it definitely beats fighting the crowds at the big box stores.

Tickets for the Art in the Hat raffle will also be available. Each year, the artists donate a piece of artwork for the raffle, and 100 percent of the raffle proceeds help fund local art teachers’ programs for students. To date, the artists have donated over $60,000 to art teachers in the area.

This year the tour will give guests an opportunity to see a glass blower, a wood turner, two different styles of handcrafted jewelry, a stained glass creator, an artist who creates one-of-a-kind furniture, an artist who works in clay, a photographer, and seven artists who paint in a variety of mediums in contemporary, traditional and abstract styles. The tour, which is self-guided, allows visitors the flexibility of checking out many studios or just a special few.

Brochures with a map of the tour are available from tour sponsors Gallery One, the Ellen Rice Gallery, Good Earth Market and Ocean Vayu Yoga in Ocean View, and Jayne’s Reliables and Dagsboro Days in Dagsboro, as well as many local retailers.
