Asunta “Sue” L. DeBastiani, loved to cook
Asunta “Sue” L. DeBastiani, 93, of Milton, formerly of Swissvale and Ligonier, Pa., passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown.
She was born in Swissvale Aug. 20, 1925, daughter of the late Pasquale and Maria (Gemma-DeLuca) Nuzzo. Sue worked as a hairdresser until she began to raise a family, providing a loving and caring home for her husband and children.
Sue was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Georgetown, and also enjoyed painting and making crafts. She also loved to cook and was the proud recipient of the Governor’s Trophy in 2008 at the Delaware State Fair for her eggplant caponata.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Amedeo “Mickey” DeBastiani in 2007; two brothers, Peter Nuzzo and Bill Nuzzo; and three sisters, Jane Migliore, Ann Rossi and Josephine Fusia. She is survived by a son, James DeBastiani and his wife Barbara of Georgetown; two daughters, Bobbie DeBastiani of Lewes and Louise DeBastiani of Milton; four grandchildren, Annette DeBastiani of Wilmington, Mary Caligiure and her spouse Chris of Millsboro, and Toni DeBastiani and Tess DeBastiani, both of Lewes; two great-grandchildren, Amadeo and Francesca Caligiure, both of Millsboro; a brother, Elmer Nuzzo of Swissvale; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 14, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 202 Edward St., Georgetown, where friends and family may call after 12:30 p.m. Interment will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
