Takyla Davis

Takyla is a 2024 graduate of Sussex Central High School. After playing two seasons at Arizona State University, Takyla recently transferred to the University of Delaware, where she’ll join the Blue Hens softball team. "Takyla is the type of player who can change a game with her athleticism," said UD head coach Jen Steele. "She's quick, explosive and has already proven she can compete at the highest level after starting as a freshman at Arizona State." Takyla started 45 of 48 games played as a freshman before missing most of her sophomore season with an injury. She recorded three home runs, 15 RBIs and 12 walks in her freshman season. Her first career collegiate hit was a two-run home run against Miami of Ohio. She also had a three-hit performance against the University of Texas El Paso. While at Sussex Central, Takyla was a three-time first-team all-conference selection, two-time first-team all-state honoree and two-time academic all-conference selection.

Eden Frederick

Eden is a 2025 graduate of Cape Henlopen High School. After playing her freshman season at Furman University in Greenville, S.C., Eden recently transferred to the University of Delaware, where she’ll join the Blue Hens softball team. In her one season with the Paladins, Eden hit .309 with 25 hits, 18 runs scored, seven walks and seven stolen bases. She started in 30 of 36 games, spending the majority of the time playing left field and hitting leadoff or second. She recorded five multi-hit games in 2026, including a three-hit performance against Lipscomb Feb. 14. Eden was one of four freshmen in the Southern Conference to hit at least .300, and she led Furman in stolen bases. She joins fellow Delawareans Jamie Chandler (Dover High), Gabriella Pudimott (Odessa High), Bayli Glanden (Lake Forest High), Takyla Davis (Sussex Central High) and Siena Evans (Padua Academy) on the roster. While at Cape, Eden was selected second-team Henlopen North All-Conference as a senior.

Dylan Harp

This freshman phenom just put a bow on the greatest freshman season in Cape distance running history by clocking 4:29.92 for the full mile at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Philadelphia. Dylan placed 28th in a field of the U.S.’s hundred fastest freshmen and set frosh school records for the mile and 1,600 meters (4:28.35 conversion). Dylan smashed the Cape freshman record for 3,200 meters earlier in the season with a 9:33 clocking. “Failing has actually pushed me the most to be a better athlete," he said. "It’s runs like the one I had at New Balance Indoors, when I clocked a 4:51 for my worst indoor mile. It felt so humiliating to not show up to the best of my ability, but it’s runs like those that make me want to push harder in workouts, learn more about how to pace, what to eat, and how to become a better athlete. If I didn't learn from each race, I'd just be wasting my time.”

Pyper Willey

Pyper helped guide the Cape major softball all-star team to the District 3 title game with her strong performance in the pitching circle and at the plate. The Delmarva Heat 11U player had 29 strikeouts in four games, including a pair of games where she punched out a dozen batters each. She said the key to piling up the Ks is evaluating where the batter stands in the box, locating her pitches and trusting her catcher Jordan Price to confirm she hit her spot. Pyper can also play first base. In the team's first game in the elimination round, June 27 against Millsboro, Pyper scored three runs on two hits. She is headed into sixth grade and will be at Mariner Middle School in the fall. She said when she is not playing softball she enjoys practicing field hockey, swimming and volleyball. She usually sports a smile and goes out of her way to be a positive leader on her teams.
