Audubon Society to share newly updated field guides Aug. 2

The Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books will welcome Steve Cottrell and Sarah Cooksey of the Delaware Audubon Society for a discussion of the newly updated “Birds of North America” and “Trees of North America” field guides at 5 p.m., Monday, Aug. 2.

Revised for the first time in over 25 years, the new guides are a result of collaboration among leading scientists, scholars, taxonomic and field experts, photo editors and designers. Each remarkable book features hundreds of species and thousands of full-color photos, with multiple pictures of each bird and detailed images of the leaves, bark, fruit and seasonal changes of each tree. The new editions also feature an important new category on conservation status and essays by leading scholars. Elegant and exceptionally thorough, these guides are must-have references for any nature lover.

Steve Cottrell is president of Delaware Audubon Society; Sarah Cooksey is a member of its board of directors. Incorporated in 1905, the National Audubon Society is a nonprofit conservation organization that uses education and advocacy to advance its mission to conserve and restore natural habitats of birds and wildlife in the United States and across the Americas.
