Augustus ‘Gus’ J. Graves, loved to travel

August 17, 2019

Augustus (Gus) J. Graves, born March 18, 1937, passed away Thursday, Aug. 1, 2019, in his home.

Augustus was a diver in the Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed in Bermuda for most of his service. He received an honorable discharge in 1955.

Gus loved to travel, fish, dance, play music, and play poker, but most of all he loved his family. He and his wife traveled to many different states together in the RV and lived in New Mexico and Arizona for a few years. They came back to Delaware to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Gus was always making friends with random people; he loved to talk and make people laugh.

Gus is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Falahee, Mary Burck and Joyce Blouse; and a son, Stephen Pratt. He is survived by his loving wife Kathleen Graves; four daughters, Dawn Herman, Terry Tallchief, Kelly Arketketa, and Elizabeth Pratt; and 10 grandchildren, Isaac, Gavin, Alanna, Caden, Thomas, Kirsten, Aaron, Nick, Ryan, and Eric.

Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. at Long Neck United Methodist Church.
