Author Jackson Coppley to sign thriller at Browseabout May 25

May 19, 2019

Browseabout Books will present Jackson Coppley’s thriller, “The Code Hunters,” at a book signing with the author from 2 to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 25.

The gripping tale is filled with complex, quirky characters, unexpected plot twists, beautifully sketched locales and a growing sense of wonder as the significance of a cave discovery is grasped.

Wealthy adventurer Nicholas Foxe leads an unlikely team to solve the mystery of a code 10,000 years old. But dark forces threaten to destroy the code and the people who know about it.

As news of the discovery reaches others, they begin to pursue their own priorities. Multiple characters fill the pages: A New Mexico senator sends his on-the-make assistant to find out what is going on and see how it might be exploited. An ex-Army special forces operator makes stealthy plans. An MIT professor explores unorthodox ideas about how the inscriptions might be encoded. A televangelist facing hard times sees the discovery as the way back to the top. A wealthy Texan sees the potential in the discovery for new wealth. Also searching for clues are a World Health Organization scientist, an Italian violin maker with an eccentric theory of language and an autistic daughter, and a “just the facts” police inspector.

Coppley is a scientist and world traveler with a sense of adventure. Prior to launching his writing career, he worked at the epicenter of the computer revolution.
