Autumn Beach Kitchen Tour benefits Village Volunteers

Event features virtual look at some of the most unique homes in Lewes-Rehoboth area
October 6, 2021

The inaugural Autumn at the Beach Kitchen Tour offers virtual visits to coastal Delaware’s most innovative, elegant homes and kitchens.

It is a virtual video tour of 12 distinctive and diverse Lewes- and Rehoboth-area kitchens and homes, with features ranging from unique design and technology to beach settings, historical importance and even innovations for aging in place.

The multi-episode tour video runs about an hour and will be available for viewing for one month beginning Sunday, Oct. 10. It can be viewed as a whole or in episodes.

Stops include the Bayview Retreat, the Old Schoolhouse, the House with Three Lives, the English Cottage, a 1935 Classic recently filmed for HGTV, the Schell brothers’ private homes and several others.

The tour video is created by filmmaker Rob Waters and his W Films, and includes interviews with homeowners, designers and builders.

Tickets can be purchased for $25 on the Village Volunteers website, villagevolunteer.org. Tickets entitle viewers to full access for a month, and are available in advance and throughout the one-month run.

Proceeds from the tour help support the nonprofit Village Volunteers in its efforts to help older neighbors live independently by assisting them with transportation needs, household tasks, and other services. In particular, proceeds help Village Volunteers offer reduced-fee memberships.

Premier sponsors are Schell Brothers and the Lee Ann Wilkinson Group.

The tour is a signature fundraising event for Village Volunteers, a state-honored nonprofit group based in Lewes, Rehoboth and Milton that since 2013 has helped older adults live independently for as long as possible.

“One thing I learned when visiting these various and beautiful kitchens is that the kitchen is the new living room. It’s where we cook, do homework, laugh with our family and entertain. No more formal dinners in a separate room. We want to be together,” said Tour Chair Janet Davis.
