Ballet Theatre of Dover to present ‘Nutcracker’ Dec. 6-7

November 10, 2019

Dover Ballet Theatre will present “The Nutcracker” at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, and at 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Dover High School theater.

Phoenix Riehl, 16, will dance the dual roles of Clara and the Sugar Plum Fairy. In the role of the Nutcracker Prince will be Christopher Mitchell, an award-winning young dancer from Ellison Ballet in New York.

Riehl is an elegant and willowy 5-feet-9-inches, tall even by professional standards. With all the technical and stylistic demands of the dual role, it will be exciting to see a dancer of her height rise to the challenges of the ballet, from the young adult Clara in Act 1 to the elegant Sugar Plum Fairy in Act 2.

Other primary roles will be danced by Morgan Dudai and Julianna Loux alternating as Snow Queen; and Emmie Huber and Ryan Smallwood alternating as DewDrop.

Dover High School is located on Route 8 in Dover.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for seniors and students, and $10 for children 10 and younger.

To purchase tickets, go to www.dancebtd.com or buy at the box office the day of the show.
