Barbara Ann Jackson Booker, retired nurse

Barbara Ann Jackson Booker, 84, of Seaford passed away in the care of the Country Rest Home in Greenwood Saturday, June 1, 2019.   She was born in Frankford to the late William P. and Emma Pearl Lewes Shockley Oct. 20, 1934.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas Booker who passed in 2013; her youngest daughter, Cathy Savage; and a brother, Virgil Shockley.

Barbara was a registered nurse who worked at Sussex Correctional Institution, Deer’s Head Hospital and Nanticoke Memorial Hospital before retiring.  She loved plants and working outdoors, and was a passionate animal lover.  She enjoyed fishing and camping.  She was self-reliant, and took care of her own business.  She adored her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her daughter: Brenda Baker (Victor) of Gumboro; and son: Robert Wilkins (Terry) of Seaford.  Also surviving are her sister: Elizabeth Chandler, of Dagsboro; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; along with her beloved cat Milo.  

A viewing and visitation will be held from noon till 1 p.m., with a funeral service following at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 6, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro.  Pastor Sally Stewart will officiate.  Interment follows at Prince George’s Chapel Cemetery, Dagsboro.
