Barbara A. Bates, devoted to family

Barbara A. Bates, 82, of Lewes, passed away Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at home.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late Hubert F. and Evelyn (Bennett) Jicha.

She was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising her children. She enjoyed doing word puzzles, watching Lifetime movies and the Hallmark channel and using her iPad.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Bates; and brother, Hubert Jicha Jr.

She is survived by her six children, Lonnie Wilson (David), Robin West (Bruce), Tom Bates (Michelle), Jimmy Bates, Kevin Bates and Bobbi Heck (Kenny); nine grandchildren, Brandon, Summer, Janene, Cody, Tyler, Jeremy, Bethany, Niki and Ariana; six great-grandchildren, Riley, Luke, Abbey, Nolan, Tessa, Oliver and two more on the way; two best friends, Pearl Mae Fouser and Ada Cooper; and her grand dog, Ben that she adored.

Funeral services will be private.
