Barbara Hastings Rogers, IR District retiree

Barbara Hastings Rogers, 69, of Georgetown passed away in the care of Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pa., Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018.  She was born Jan. 28, 1949, to the late Glenn L. and Elizabeth Burton Hastings in Lewes. She married Kenneth Rogers, and together they raised two children.  She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
 
She retired from the Indian River School District as a manager of nutrition services. Barbara also worked for the DuPont Nylon Plant in Seaford for 12 years, and also was a stay at home mom when her children were young. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She also loved sewing and Longaberger baskets. Barbara was kind-hearted, loving and helpful in any way and was always willing to help.
 
She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth W. Sr.; and two children: Kenneth W. Rogers Jr. (Amanda) of Georgetown, and Kimberly LeKites (Jamie) of Princess Anne, Md. She has three grandchildren: Cole Rogers, Caleb Rogers and Karson LeKites; and one stepgrandson: Wyatt LeKites. Other survivors include two brothers; one niece; two nephews; several cousins and extended family, and many, many friends.
 
A Celebration of Her Life service will be held at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, Sunday, Sept. 2, at 1 p.m.  A time for viewing and visitation will be held two hours prior from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m.   The Rev. James Scott will officiate, and interment is at Cokesbury Cemetery following the service. 
 
Floral tributes are welcome, or memorial contributions to the American Legion Post 8 Ambulance Service, Station 93, 406 N. Front St. Georgetown, DE 19947. The family wishes to extend a very special “Thank you” to the members of the ambulance crew who assisted Barbara several times during her illness.
