Barry Wayne Famous, 80, of Millsboro, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2026, with his loving wife and family by his side. He was born in Phoenixville, Pa., Aug. 15, 1946, to the late Francis and Dorothy (Ackrill) Famous.

Barry proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. Following his military service, he graduated from University of Delaware and went on to enjoy a successful career as an accountant/CPA at PricewaterhouseCoopers, along with other small ventures.

A true history enthusiast, Barry was an avid Civil War buff and was a proud member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Gettysburg Camp 112 and Fort Miles Bunker Busters. He had a deep appreciation for history and enjoyed learning about and preserving the stories of the past. Barry also enjoyed traveling and golfing, creating many wonderful memories along the way.

Above all, Barry cherished his family. He took great pride in his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved. His kindness, knowledge, sense of humor and devotion to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Karen Schwab.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dolores Maria Famous; his children, Debbie Gravinese, Barbara Myers (Art), Alice Mancini (Kevin) and Robert Graham (Laura); 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

A chapel committal service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
