Beach party to celebrate end-of-season in Dewey Sept. 21

September 19, 2019

The Dewey Business Partnership invites the community to its end-of-season beach party from 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 21.

The party on the beach will be rocking the shores from New Orleans Street to Dagsworthy Street and is a “come one, come all,” evening to celebrate another wonderful season in Dewey! This is a family-friendly event, and kids of all ages are welcome.

Steve “Monty” Montgomery, owner of the Starboard and member of the DBP, said, “The beach and the bay are the crown jewels of our town. So why not throw a party in Delaware's most famous party town to bring everyone who has a stake in our town and enjoy our beautiful beach, the ocean and some terrific live music on our beach!?”

Participating businesses include the Starboard, Starboard Raw, Woodys, Grotto's, Hammerheads, Sirvida and Gary’s.

The day of the beach party coincides with the local Dewey Beach election happening that same day, so Montgomery and the entire partnership of businesses want to encourage everyone to come out after voting and “bury the sand shovel!” This is a great way to foster some town unity and enjoy camaraderie as they all work together to continue making Dewey Beach a great little beach town.

The Dewey Business Partnership asks that attendees contribute a $5 donation to help cover the costs of the event. This allows them to provide discounted pricing on food, beer and wine, served right there on the beach so everyone can enjoy the evening with their toes in the sand and a drink in their hand. This year the Starboard will also be serving its famous Orange Crushes - a drink that epitomizes the party spirit of Dewey Beach.

For entertainment Ben Leroy and The Snap will be kicking it off from 5 to 6:30 p.m., and the 19th Street Band takes over from 7 to 9 p.m. Since the town will have the bonfires burning, organizers encourage everyone to bring s’more supplies and a chair or blanket, and to kick off their flip flops and dance the night away! This is one season-end party that will leave people feeling warm and fuzzy, so come out and enjoy the evening with the Dewey Beach locals.
