April 18, 2019

The Southern Delaware Chorale will present For the Beauty of the Earth, a spring concert, at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 5, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach.

The beautiful title song by John Rutter will be performed, along with other selections pertaining to the natural world, such as Ludwig Van Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 9,” as known as “Ode to Joy.”

Cost for admission is $25 for adults, and $10 for students.

The group has been busily rehearsing additional selections including “Deep River,” arranged by Alice Parker and Robert Shaw; “The Blue Bird,” by Charles Villiers Stanford; and a beautiful rendition of “Ashokan Farewell,” made famous in the PBS series “The Civil War” by Ken Burns. The concert promises to be uplifting and joyful, like spring. To purchase tickets, go to www.southerndelawarechorale.org or visit Puzzles in Lewes or Browseabout Books in Rehoboth, or see any member of the chorale.

Under the direction of Dr. Colin Armstrong, the Southern Delaware Chorale is a nonprofit organization which promotes choral music in the region by bringing together local singers of all ages who share a mutual love of good music. The group rehearses at 7 p.m., Tuesday evenings during the school year at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 203 North Bedford St., Georgetown.
