Bernice C. ‘Dolly’ Lewis, retired bank teller

Bernice C. “Dolly” Lewis, 90, of Rehoboth Beach passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2020, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford.

She was born in Lewes, daughter of the late Lou F. and Mary Alice (Perfator) White.

Dolly graduated from Lewes High School, after which she worked as a bank teller with Lewes Trust, Sussex Trust and Wilmington Trust Company, retiring after over 30 years.  At her retirement, she was working at the drive-thru on Route 16 in Milton. Mom-mom Dolly, as she was affectionately called, loved spending time with her family, especially supporting her grandchildren and their endeavors.  She also enjoyed playing games and putting together puzzles with her loving and kind neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Dolly is preceded in death by her husband, H. Allen Lewis; and seven siblings, Paul White, Vincent White, Lou White, Harold White, Evelyn Peterson, Betty Clifton and Betsy Wells.

She is survived by a sister, Llywella Stuchlik; children, Jay Lewis and wife Janice, Debbie Parker and husband Gary, and Randy Lewis and wife Carole; four grandchildren, Jay Lewis and fiancée Joy, Jenifer Jones and husband Nathan, Gary Parker and wife Laurie, and Allison Parker and husband Carl; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Trent, Trevor, Graham, Lucy, Davin, Peyton and Alli; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.

Due to the current restrictions put in place for public gatherings, a graveside memorial service will be held privately.   

In lieu of flowers, contributions are welcome in Dolly’s memory to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Blvd., Milford, DE  19963.
