Bessie McClernon Esposito, cosmetics consultant

Mrs. Bessie McClernon Esposito, 79, of Millsboro passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford

Bessie was born in Reading, Pa., Aug. 15, 1939, to the late Sarah and Herbert Sauers. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Esposito; and her son, Brian Matthias, both in 2017, as well as siblings William and Jeanette.

She worked at Eckerds and Rite Aid as a cosmetic consultant for many years.  She was a member of the Millsboro Bowling League, enjoyed crochet, knitting, word puzzles, and enjoyed caring for animals.  Bessie was a quiet, private person with an awesome sense of humor who would put others’ needs before her own.

Bessie is survived by a son, Kenneth Matthias and his wife Jo Ann of Georgetown; siblings Simone, Herbert and Barry; five grandchildren: Zachary, Brandon and Nathan Matthias, all of Pennsylvania, Julie M. Humphreys of Millsboro and Michael Matthias of New York City; as well as two great-grandchildren, Owen and Kayla; surviving husband of her son Brian, Mario Savirrio of Wilmington; daughter-in-law Deborah Bortz of Millsboro; dearly loved sister-in-law Mary Sauers and nieces Teresa and Lisa of Millsboro; and dearly beloved nieces and nephews.

A viewing and visitation will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 19, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro.  A chapel service will follow at 2 p.m. at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE  19963, or Nanticoke Health Foundation, 613 High St., Seaford, DE  19973, Memo ICU.
