As the Town of Bethany Beach commemorates its 125th anniversary, residents and visitors are invited to take part in Founders' Day weekend celebrations over Labor Day weekend, Friday to Monday, Sept. 4 to 7. Events will showcase the pride, patriotism and traditions that define Bethany Beach.

Attendees can also enjoy three evenings of free entertainment at the town bandstand, each celebrating a different era of iconic American music. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m.

Local favorite Love Seed Mama Jump will open the festivities with an energetic mix of classic and modern rock Friday, Sept. 4.

The Jimmies will take audiences back to the 1980s Saturday, Sept. 5.

The beloved Independence Day Parade, which was postponed in July due to extreme heat, will step off at noon, Sunday, Sept. 6, with its original theme, Stars, Stripes and Shorelines.

Jesse Garron’s Tribute to Elvis will bring the weekend’s concert series to a close the evening of Sept. 6 with hits spanning the 1950s through the 1970s. Following his performance, spectators will enjoy a spectacular drone and fireworks display co-sponsored by the Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce and Southern Delaware Tourism.

The celebration concludes with the 41st Annual Bethany Beach Jazz Funeral at 5:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 7. The cherished New Orleans-style procession, accompanied by Dixieland jazz musicians, traditionally marks the close of summer and welcomes Bethany Beach’s lively fall season.

Since its founding in 1901, Bethany Beach has welcomed generations of families seeking relaxation, connection and the simple pleasures of a seaside retreat. While the town has grown and evolved over the years, its commitment to family-friendly recreation and a strong sense of community remains as vibrant as ever.
