Bethany Blues Roaring ‘20s party to benefit cancer organization Dec. 5

June 14, 2019

Bethany Blues of Bethany Beach is gearing up to host a huge Prohibition-themed party from 7 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 5. The public is invited to support The Noble Experiment, an event to benefit Cocktails Curing Cancer. Call it benevolence with a side of bootlegging.

In keeping with the Roaring ‘20s theme, Tiffany Cordeaux, event coordinator for the Bethany location, said, “We are really excited to be working with local organizations Eastern Shore Make Up and All About U Salon for hair and makeup to help our staff bring this time period to life.”

Mary Beth French, owner of Eastern Shore Makeup, and formerly a makeup artist for Lifetime Movie network, is donating her services for the evening. She’s also a veteran of volunteering through Look Good, Feel Better, a Tunnell Cancer Center program that provides makeup and skin care for people dealing with the effects of cancer treatments.

Providing the hair with flair will be All About U Aveda Salon and Spa, headed by owner Rebecca Chandler. The salon recently received a Supporter of the Year Award from People’s Place for its involvement in the Kind Beauty Project, collecting gently used clothes and beauty products for victims of domestic violence.

All of this hard work and superior costuming will enhance the ambiance of this one-of-a-kind party to benefit Cocktails Curing Cancer, which originated in Vermont with a focus on breast cancer. When member Lisa Condon relocated to Delaware, she started a new chapter in Bethany Beach of which she is now president.

“I wanted the focus to be on all cancers,” said Condon. “We do one high-end cocktail party per year in order to raise funds to help fight cancer and support caregivers.” So far, the Bethany chapter, in partnership with Beebe Healthcare, has raised over $30,000 to benefit causes in Sussex County. The services that Cocktails Curing Cancer provides are essential for those in the thick of their cancer battle, and keeping the money local is an important aspect of those efforts.

Tickets start at just $35, and attendees can enjoy a premier party with a purpose. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to www.bethanyblues.com
