Betty Jean Riggs, enjoyed time with family

Betty Jean Riggs, 79, of Bridgeville passed away Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2018, in her home, surrounded by family. She was born in Johnson City, Tenn., Sept. 2, 1938, daughter of the late Edmond Nathan Howell and Lillie Bell Grindstaff Howell.

Ms. Riggs was a former member of the Women's Chapter 1384 Moose of Seaford. She also enjoyed attending movies; however she truly enjoyed time with family and friends. She actually had two great families: her paternal family and her neighboring family. Her best friend for many years was a Beagle named Tiffy.

Her survivors include her daughters, Denise Renee Jefferson and Beverly Hope Webb with spouse Randy Webb of Bridgeville; her son William Earl Riggs Jr. with spouse Marie Riggs of Seaford: a sister-in-law, Marlene Howell of Pasadena, Md.; and two sisters in Christ, Jane Jefferson and Bridget along with spouse John of Bridgeville; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 10 a.m. at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville with burial to follow in Bridgeville Cemetery.

Family and friends may pay their respects at a viewing Tuesday, Aug. 28,  from 6 to 8 p.m., at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville.

Ms Riggs battled breast cancer and won, but wanted to help those who are fighting, so other than flowers she would like contributions made to Breast Cancer Awareness, C/O Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition Inc., 18977 Munchy Branch Road, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971
