Beverly A. Detwiler, loved to travel

August 27, 2019

Beverly A. Detwiler, 74, of Millsboro passed away Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. She was born Oct. 17, 1944, in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late Paul and Ethel Connell.

Mrs. Detwiler graduated from Notre Dame Catholic Girls High School in Moylan, Pa.  She was employed by Tollins Furniture Store in Chester, and Bodman Chemical in Aston, Pa., before moving to Texas.  There she dedicated several years as a clerk for Schlumberger LTD, from which she retired.  Upon retirement, Mrs. Detwiler and her husband moved to the Delaware beaches and built their home.

She loved to travel, especially to Kansas to visit her grandchildren, who were the apples of her eye.  She enjoyed boating, and, with her husband, was a past member of the Indian River Yacht Club.  What Mrs. Detwiler cherished most, however, was time spent with those she held most dear.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Detwiler is survived by her beloved husband, Howard Detwiler Jr. of Millsboro; her daughter Jennifer Rohaus (Craig) of Eudora, Kan.; her grandchildren: Jacob Rohaus and Nick Rohaus; and her best friend of 53 years, who was like a sister to her, Barbara Hand (John).

All services will be private.  Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Mrs. Detwiler's memory to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963, or the Alzheimer's Association, 108 North Bedford St., Georgetown, DE  19947.
