President-elect Joe Biden has a lot to take care of before he’s sworn into office Wednesday, Jan. 20. One of the items on his to-do-list, albeit near the bottom, was to find a place to park the presidential helicopter Marine One when he gets an urge for that Rehoboth Beach sand between his toes.

In an email Jan. 7, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control spokesperson Nikki Lavoie confirmed Biden has been given permission to use the parking lot at the Gordons Pond end of Cape Henlopen State Park as the Marine One helipad. The parking lot is just around the corner from Biden’s North Shores home.

It’s unclear if there will need to be infrastructure improvements made to the parking lot. According to a November story in the Palm Beach Daily Times, the circular concrete helipad constructed for President Donald Trump to use when he visited Mar-a-Lago is 50 feet wide and 8 inches thick.

Lavoie declined to provide any specific information on the subject.
