Big Draw Festival to include sandcastle sculpting Oct. 8

September 25, 2022

The Big Draw Festival Delaware, presented by Mispillion Art League, will offer free, family-friendly art activities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, on Park Avenue in downtown Milford.

The league is organizing this year’s theme, Come Back to Color, as a way for the community to gather and celebrate the joy of color, family, culture and heritage by creating art through experimentation and creativity.

Sandcastle sculpting will take place on Park Avenue, where organizers are bringing in 8 tons of sand. Master sandcastle builders Andy West and Darrell O’Connor will be on hand to show attendees some award-winning techniques.

There will also be sidewalk drawing with chalk, pumpkin painting, and a variety of drawing and painting activities for participants of all ages.

First organized in the United Kingdom 22 years ago, the Big Draw Festival is now the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool to learn, express and invent.
