The body of a boy, 6, missing since the fatal crash into the C&D canal that killed three others was found Oct. 10.
The body of Ethan Lindsey was found about 9 a.m. on the north bank of the C&D canal about a quarter mile west of the Roth Bridge, said Master Cpl. Michael Austin of the Delaware State Police.
Ethan and three relatives all perished in a car Oct. 6 that ran off the dirt road along the south side of the canal. Willis Lindsey Jr., 18, was driving a Chevrolet HHR at 9:41 a.m. when he ran off the dirt road and into the canal, Austin said. Willis helped the only surviving passenger to shore, a 16-year-old girl from Newark, and he went back into the water to save Kyree Lindsey, 16, Eric Lindsey, 12, and Ethan. Police found the bodies of the three older relatives on the day of the crash.
“He was a hero,” Austin said about Willis. “He tried to do everything he could to help the remaining passengers in that vehicle.”
