Brandywine Living at Fenwick Island invites the community to celebrate National Assisted Living Week during two special events. The week highlights the important role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors.
Forks Around the World, a public cooking competition, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, National Grandparents Day. Attendees and chefs from local restaurants are invited to prepare a dish that represents their family’s culture and decorate a table display with family memorabilia. A trifold display board will be provided in advance to competitors, and dishes need to be presented ready to sample. A prize will be awarded for the best overall display. The community is invited to participate in the contest and/or enjoy food samples.
A patriotic color run will take place from 1 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 11, to commemorate 9/11. There is no set distance for this fun run. Attendees are welcome to run, walk or roll at their own pace as residents throw patriotic colors. Free T-shirts will be provided to the first 50 participants, and well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome.
A $5 donation to the community’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s team is encouraged. Attendees can also take their chances on raffle baskets and enjoy refreshments after the race.
