Brandywine Living residents celebrate milestone

The birthdays of centenarians Dorothy Bard, Beverly Shirley and Edna Belsky were celebrated at Brandywine Living at Seaside Pointe in Rehoboth Dec. 6.

Residents and caregivers enjoyed specialty cupcakes, live entertainment and a holiday music sing-along provided by Duo Different.

Edna Belsky was born March 10, 1921 in Philadelphia. She was married to William Belsky for 49 years and has four children, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. 

A devout Catholic who prays daily, Edna owned a grocery store, ran a firehouse kitchen and worked in food service at Gloucester County College in New Jersey.

Dorothy Bard was born Sept. 8, 1921, and was married to Harry Bard. She has three children and two grandchildren, and enjoys doing word searches.

Beverly Shirley was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Maryland, where she grew up on a farm. She was a secretary for a church and the federal government. Beverly was married for 76 years to her husband Daniel. She has two children and eight grandchildren.
