Valerie StaradubThe Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition recently announced Valerie L. Staradub, MD, FACS, has been appointed to its board of trustees, joining a distinguished group of community leaders dedicated to maintaining DBCC’s position as the state’s most trusted resource for breast cancer awareness, education and support.
Staradub serves as breast surgery section chief for the ChristianaCare Department of Surgery, and as program director for the Society of Surgical Oncology Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center at ChristianaCare. With more than 20 years of experience dedicated exclusively to breast surgery, she brings an exciting level of clinical expertise and academic leadership to the DBCC board.
"The DBCC thrives on the diverse perspectives and well-rounded expertise of our trustees," said Francesca Vogel, coalition CEO. "Dr. Staradub’s extensive background in surgical oncology and her commitment to medical education will be invaluable assets as we continue to serve the Delaware community."
Before joining ChristianaCare in 2021, Staradub served as medical director of the breast care program at Danbury Hospital/Western Connecticut Health Network. Her career also includes prestigious faculty and surgical positions at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
A board-certified surgeon and fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Staradub is a widely published researcher and a frequent lecturer on breast health. Her appointment reinforces DBCC's mission to leverage elite local talent and resources to improve the lives of those affected by breast cancer across the state.
