Bridgeville woman faces assault charge following argument

February 6, 2021

A Bridgeville woman faces an assault charge after police say she threatened another woman with a knife and scissors Feb. 5 during an argument.

Delaware State Police were called to a home on Willow Street in Ellendale at 11:50 a.m. where they learned Aliseya Cephas, 24, had argued with a 25-year-old woman at the home, said Cpl. Jason Hatchell of the Delaware State Police.

The argument escalated in a bedroom where Cephas threatened to kill the woman with a knife. The woman was able to leave the home, but Cephas then threatened to harm her while holding a pair of scissors, Hatchell said.

As the woman tried to leave in her vehicle, Hatchell said, Cephas confronted her and sprayed her with pepper spray. The woman did not require medical treatment, he said.

Police arrived and took Cephas into custody without incident. She was charged with second-degree assault, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, and aggravated menacing.

Cephas was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released in default of $10,000 unsecured bond.
