Britanni Johnson wins Lefty’s ‘American Idol’ giveaway

There were more than 1,200 contest entries, but only one heard those famous words, “You’re going to Hollywood!”

Brittani Johnson of Millsboro was the lucky winner of the recent promotion sponsored by Lefty’s Alley & Eats and WMDT. “I couldn’t believe it! I never win anything,” Johnson said. As the winner, she will receive two seats at the Live “American Idol” Semi-Final show in Hollywood May 12, plus round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations.

Johnson, a proud mother of two boys, has been an avid “American Idol” fan since it first debuted 17 years ago. She thinks Wade Cota is the front-runner to win this season’s contest, but still thinks Phillip Phillips is the all-time best musician to come out of the show. “I got to see him at Freeman Stage a few years ago. He’s without a doubt my favorite,” Johnson said.

When asked whom she will invite to the show, Johnson said it’s a no-brainer. Her mom is also a fan, and they often watch together to debate about who made the right song choice and who sounded a little pitchy. With the semifinal airing Mother’s Day weekend, the holiday will be one to remember. In addition to the show, they hope to work in as much sightseeing as possible.
