Bugs, insects and arachnids highlighted an author’s party Jan. 24 at Milton Elementary. Second-graders showcased books they wrote and illustrated based on research into their chosen animals.

Lilly Keller said she decided to research grasshoppers. “They can hear from far away, and jump 20 to 50 feet,” she said.

Julian Pettyjohn also studied grasshoppers. “They can be brown or green,” he said.

Brison Ney and Obed Chinchilla researched ants. “They’re really strong!” Obed said. “I knew they ate seeds,” Brison said. “This was a cool project.”
