Royal Farms donates to Food Bank of Delaware
Royal Farms delivered a tractor-trailer truck full of food supplies to the Food Bank of Delaware May 8.
The truck was filled with various food necessities including cases of whole milk, 1 percent milk and chocolate milk, as well as orange juice, loaves of bread, sliced ham, turkey, American cheese and containers of yogurt. Also included were boxes of granola bars, nuts and cases of bottled water.
“This coronavirus pandemic has resulted in an increased need for food within the communities that we serve. People are worried right now, and where they are going to get their next meal should not be added to their list of worries. Our goal with this donation is to help the food bank provide food to those who need it most. We also want to thank our food bank partners who fight against this hunger every day,” said John Kemp, president of Royal Farms.
Weis offers in-store donation program
Weis Markets launched its Fight Hunger in-store donation program April 30. At checkout, customers can round up their order total or purchase a $1, $3, $5 or $10 voucher to help support families in need in their community. “This is a difficult time for a growing number of families who are struggling with food insecurity,” said Ron Bonacci, Weis Markets vice president of advertising and marketing. “Our Fight Hunger program gives customers the opportunity to donate to regional food banks who work to support thousands of local food pantries and hunger groups.” This is Weis Markets’ 13th annual Fight Hunger campaign, which has raised more than $2.5 million and been supplemented by company donations. Locally, the campaign benefits Food Bank of Delaware.
Insight Homes partners to plant trees for Earth Day anniversary
In honor of Earth Day, Insight Homes is giving back. For every home sold from April 22 to May 1, Insight Homes will plant 200 trees in partnership with One Tree Planted. April 22, 2020 marked the 50th anniversary of Earth Day.
Insight Homes has always been a leader in the area for its green homes and has won innovation awards back to back from the Department of Energy. It is natural that Insight would want to give back for this prestigious anniversary.

WSFS Bank expands ATM network
WSFS Bank announced its ATM network is expanding from 473 machines to 560 to serve customers across Delaware and greater Philadelphia.
Its ATMs are in WSFS’ 91 banking offices and at various locations including Walgreens, retail centers and many other convenient locations. As retailers open after the passing of the current pandemic, WSFS will continue to expand to more than 600 ATMs.

Texas Roadhouse proposed in Millsboro
The Town of Millsboro announced that Texas Roadhouse steak restaurant has submitted a preliminary site plan to build a new location in Millsboro on Route 113 South, between Taco Bell and Royal Farms. “The town thanks Texas Roadhouse for choosing Millsboro,” said Sheldon P. Hudson, town manager. “In a 2018 survey, one of the things Millsboro residents indicated they wanted most was a steakhouse, and the town has been working tirelessly since that time to do its part to inspire even more high-quality sit-down restaurants to come to Millsboro.”
