Busy Halloween weekend planned at DHA Rehoboth with yard sale, clinic

October 29, 2020

The Delaware Humane Association, a statewide animal welfare organization with adoption centers in Rehoboth Beach and Wilmington, is holding two ghoulishly fun events this weekend in Rehoboth Beach: a yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Oct. 31, and a vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Nov. 1. Both events are open to the public, and will be held at the Rehoboth Adoption Center in Midway Plaza. Masks and responsible social distancing will be required for anyone who attends.

The yard sale will feature a wide range of pet items available for low prices, including: pet beds, sweaters, toys, collars, leashes, bowls, crates, as well as home furniture. DHA is holding the yard sale in preparation for a major renovation of its Rehoboth Beach adoption facility. The renovation will allow DHA to meet increasing demand for adoptable pets in Sussex County in a safe and comfortable environment, and enhance the overall adoption experience for both pets and families. The renovation is slated to begin in November, and adoption services will continue throughout the work.

The Sunday Vaccination Clinic is a first-come, first-served event beginning promptly at 10 a.m. Services include feline and canine distemper and rabies vaccinations for $20 each and Bordetella, the preventative for kennel cough, for $15 each. Vaccinations are for cats and dogs only. Animals as young as 6 weeks of age may receive a distemper vaccine, but animals must be 12 weeks or older to receive a rabies vaccine. Cats must be in hard plastic or cardboard carriers; dogs must be wearing a collar and leash (retractable leashes not permitted).

Physical exams are not available due to the large number of animals. Owners should bring their animal’s own properly fitting muzzle to clinic (owners must be able to put muzzle on animal) if their dog requires a muzzle to be vaccinated. Accepted forms of payment are cash and debit/credit card. A full list of available services and requirements provided can be found at https://delawarehumane.org/services/vaccination-clinics/.
