Byrne encourages voter registration

July 6, 2018

The right and the privilege of one-person one-vote reflects our society's long-held principle of political equality. The voters of Rehoboth Beach have an opportunity to elect two new city commissioners Saturday, Aug. 11. But to do so they must be registered to vote in the city. This is separate from registration for county, state and national elections.

You are eligible to vote in the City of Rehoboth Beach if you have attained the age of 18, are a resident, freeholder or leaseholder, and are registered to vote by the close of business Thursday, July 12. If you have missed two consecutive annual elections, your name has been removed from the voter registration list, and you must appear in person at City Hall to complete a voter registration card. You will need your driver's license or a photo ID.

I believe that voting is one of the most important responsibilities we have. It's a once-a-year chance to select leaders/lawmakers/decision makers who are committed to preserving our unique neighborhoods, protecting our natural environment, and promoting ethical, open, fair and transparent government for all.

I believe that I'm a candidate who understands the need to work across all segments of the community - residents, businesses and visitors. I will leverage my 30-plus years of professional and community experience to work with diverse groups and disparate opinions, search out opportunities, grasp challenges and take action, and support long-range planning.

I have a strong desire to work hard to keep our city a welcoming, clean, safe and friendly environment for all who live here, make a living here and visit here. The commissioners you elect will make decisions affecting your future as a resident, leaseholder or business owner. If elected, I will work every day on your behalf.

Please register to vote and vote for me Aug. 11.
