C. Ann Mitchell, doctor’s aide

Mrs. C. Ann Mitchell, 85, of Millsboro passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehab Health Center.  

Ann was born in Frankford July 7, 1934, to the late James Martin and Pauline Long.  In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband James Thomas Mitchell Sr. in 2003; a son, Shane Mitchell in 2010; as well as two brothers, Harley King Long and Francis Martin Long, along with two sisters, Agnes Daisey and Maxine Sharp.

She retired from the state of Delaware where she worked at the Stockley Center as a doctor’s aide for approximately 34 years.  Ann enjoyed knitting, crochet and reading.  She was a nurturing and caring woman who had a big heart.  She will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all who knew her.

Ann is survived by four children: Paris Mitchell and his wife Donna of Frankford, James T. Mitchell and his wife Ellen of Millsboro, Trudy Cordrey and Joe Dorey of Bishopville, Md., and Peter Mitchell and his wife Mona of Millsboro.  She is also survived by a brother, Throt Long and his wife Etta of Millsboro; and a sister-in-law, June Long of Elkton, Md.  She also leaves behind to cherish her memory 20 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Monday, July 22, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro.  A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m., at Mariner’s Bethel Cemetery, 81 Central Ave., Ocean View. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
