The Cake Lady sponsors The Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest

Registration deadline Nov. 13
November 5, 2017

The Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest has a sponsor with heart. Daria Horn aka 'The Cake Lady' and owner of Sweet 'Art, has given the new event her enthusiastic support. The Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest will take place Dec. 9-10 at Epworth UM Church in Rehoboth. Contest entrants must be preregistered by Monday, Nov. 13. Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities.

Horn, who currently resides in Florida, has a degree in fine art and began her artistic career specializing in painting, ceramics and sculpture. When she discovered cake decorating, she drew on all of her artistic expertise. Horn was in the restaurant business for 32 years and spent 17 of those years as the pastry chef at Kupchick's, a restaurant that she and her husband, David, established on Lewes Beach. After Horn left the restaurant business, she devoted her full attention to Sweet 'Art, Wedding Cake Wizardry & Other Edible Art History. Horn's wedding cakes are renown for their artistry and for being as delicious as they were beautiful. Online reviews of Horn and her cakes are glowing.

Anyone entering the Rehoboth Beach Gingerbread Contest will have access to advice from 'The Cake Lady,' herself. Horn's years of experience in constructing and transporting elaborate cakes could prove extremely valuable to anyone not experienced in this area. "Sharing her time and wisdom is an incredibly generous gift," says event coordinator Susan Selph. "It could mean the difference between success and failure for some. By sharing her experience, Daria is helping to make this event a success."

Other supporters of the event include The Cape Gazette and Edie Bees Confection Shop on Second Street in Lewes.
