Cape’s Bob Fulton recognized as Superintendent of the Year

Top honors were bestowed upon Cape Henlopen School District Superintendent Bob Fulton June 28 during the 20th Annual Policy & Practice Institute: Delaware's Conference on Public Education at Dover High School.

The Superintendent of the Year honoree is selected by colleagues statewide.

“I’ve had the privilege to serve alongside incredible superintendents through some of the toughest years many of us will see in our careers. We have had to work together, collaborate, and ultimately do whatever we could to ensure that the students, staff and families in our districts were and are receiving the highest-quality education possible,” said Fulton. “It is truly an honor to have been selected to represent Delaware as Superintendent of the Year.”

During the 2021-22 school year, Fulton served as president for the Delaware Chief Officers Association, acting as a liaison between the superintendents and various state agencies. He guided his colleagues through a unique time, a year that saw schools across the state working to move into a “new normal” phase after the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Mr. Fulton’s honor is well deserved,” said Dr. Jenny Nauman, Cape district assistant superintendent. “I am grateful to work side by side with him each day, and I see the commitment to the students, staff and families in Cape and across the state.”

“Bob Fulton has done an outstanding job leading Cape Henlopen School District,” said Dr. Matthew Burrows, superintendent of Appoquinimink School District. “He has brought all stakeholders together, where the entire Cape community has great pride in its district. That is all due to Bob’s leadership. I am proud to have him as a thought partner and fellow leader in public education.”

Fulton will represent Delaware at the School Superintendents Association conference in Washington, D.C. in February 2023 when a National Superintendent of the Year will be announced.
