Cape boys’ lax performs tough v. Shipley

Vikings travel to Bullis March 23
March 18, 2019
The Cape boys’ lacrosse team finished its preseason scrimmages with a tough and physical Shipley School March 16 on the turf at Legends Stadium. Shipley is located in Bryn Mawr, Pa.

The scoring went back and forth for the evenly matched squads.

“Like the other scrimmages, we played well at times and made some early season mistakes,” said Cape Head Coach Mark D’Ambrogi. “We handled the ball on clears and on the offensive end pretty well. I thought a lot of possessions ended in good opportunities.  We just have to do a better job of finishing. Our shooting was not what we want it to be, but it is early season and we will work on improving it.”

D’Ambrogi was also pleased with improvement on Cape’s defensive end.

“Defensively, we got better as the game went along. Early on, we were ball-watching and lost our guy. We did a better job playing off ball in the second half. Both goalies are improving, and we look to see that competition continue into the season. It was a close game throughout and we need those tight game experiences as we head into the season.”

Cape opens its regular season with an away match Saturday, March 23 versus The Bullis School in Potomac, Md. before opening conference play Wednesday, March 27 at Sussex Tech.
