Cape sophomore Channing Smith outruns the Tech offense for a successful clear. The Cape boys’ lacrosse team moved to 6-1 with a 19-1 running-clock victory over Sussex Tech April 17 at the Ravens’ new turf field.
The air temperature wasn’t the only hot thing on the day, as Grant Conway added to his team-high 27 goals with five more on the day. He was also credited with two assists in the game.
Little bro Pierce scored three. Braddock Smith and Brenner Short cranked two each. Carter Nemcic, AJ Grapski, Max Wyshock, Grady Trivits, Ryan Morgan, Patrick Healy and Jaxon Holgerson each scored a goal.
Grapski, Morgan and Short had two assists apiece, while Nemcic, Pierce Conway, Tate Mauro, Smith, Trivits and Liam Crotty each had a single helper.
Senior goalie Mason Trench made two saves, while Patrick Little had four stops.
“I was happy with how the boys came out for this game ready to play,” said Cape coach Geoff Shupard. “We moved the ball well, and our defense communicated effectively and cleared well.”
The Ravens’ Matt Persaud scored his team’s long goal on a fast break off a face-off.
The Vikings travel to Broadneck High School Tuesday, April 21, to face the Bruins.
