Cape boys run the roster at Polytech for 17-3 win

Vikings 10-2 working to get better
May 2, 2019

The National Guard was already at the Cape versus Polytech lacrosse game at DE Turf, so no need to call them out. They were there as a sponsor and for the national anthem ceremony.

The ball went to face-off and Cape was off to the races, scoring eight unanswered first-quarter goals on the way to a 17-3 victory that saw the clock running in the second half.

“The team is doing a good job of sharing the ball and finding the open man,” said coach Mark D’Ambrogi. “We will continue to work on our shooting. Defensively, we need to keep playing well as a unit, no matter who is on the field. When we communicate and play for each other, we play well.”

Cape is now 10-2  on the season and prepares to host Caesar Rodney (7-3) Wednesday, May 8, and Appoquinimink (4-5) Friday, May 10. Polytech dropped to 1-8 on the season.

Cape was paced in scoring by Gabe Best, Mikey Frederick and Finbar Rishko each with two goals, and single goals from Greg Boyce, Will Bragg, Ross Cockett, Andre Currie, Hank D’Ambrogi, Luke D’Ambrogi, Jaden Davis, Jack Dennis, Blake Gipko, JP Heid and Adem Tekmen.

Assists were credited to Luke D’Ambrogi with two, and Dennis, Best and Rishko each with one.
