Cape educators to go Over the Edge for Special Olympics

March 18, 2019

Fundraising efforts are underway for two local educators who are going Over the Edge.

Dr. Beth Conaway, principal at Milton Elementary, and Lindsey Underwood, physical education teacher and CHHS girls’ varsity lacrosse head coach, are participating in the 2019 Over the Edge fundraiser benefitting Special Olympics Delaware.

Over the Edge is a unique event that allows participants to raise money for Special Olympics by rappelling 17 stories down the side of a building, or 222 feet.

“Lindsey and I are excited to participate in this event for two reasons,” said Conaway. “We want to highlight the beginning of the Special Olympics this year at Milton Elementary for basketball and soccer, and we want to encourage our students to think out of the box when it comes to participating in acts of kindness. It’s all part of our of our school’s PBS Kindness Initiative.”

Conaway and Underwood will participate in Over the Edge May 9, at the 300 Delaware Ave. Building in Wilmington. The first participant will go over at about 9 a.m., and a constant flow of participants will continue throughout the day until about 5 p.m.
